The Botanical Garden is located at Botaniczna Street in Zielona Góra and covers an area of over 2 ha. Interestingly, the first garden was established in this place in 1925. A network of park alleys was created at that time, but unfortunately they have not survived to this day.

When rebuilding the garden, efforts were made to recreate it according to the original assumptions, including a pond and an alpine garden with mountain plants, which are characteristic of the Karkonosze Mountains. The garden was divided into the so-called plant zones where you can admire specimens from different continents as well as those characteristic of the region and useful plants, such as thyme.

Nature lovers can now see around 500 species and varieties of plants in the garden. The collection is dominated by trees and shrubs located in the thematic sections:

• Department of Moisture-loving Plants,
• Plant Systematics Department,
• Geographic Department,
• Mountain plants department.

Botanical Garden – attractions for children

The offer of the Botanical Garden is very varied. Both adults and children can enjoy their time there. That is why this place is so often visited by families.

The youngest most often take their first steps to the Minia Zoo, where you can see meerkats, fallow deer, goats, parrots, peacocks and pheasants. Interestingly, the animals can also be fed. At the Mini Zoo, each visitor is greeted by a talking tree, which also tells about the “Little Red Riding Hood” every minute. There are also plastic fairy-tale characters in the garden and this place is called “Fairy-tale Farm”.
